OC Transpo and Loblaws team together to make a difference

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

The OC Transpo / Loblaws Christmas Food Drive was an amazing day!

Thank you to all who contributed to this annual food drive, making Saturday, December 3rd so special.

Buses and volunteers were at over 20 Loblaw locations across the city collecting food and monetary donations. Donors, volunteers, city/OC Transpo staff, and Loblaws employees came together to raise an incredible amount for the Ottawa Food Bank.

All together, 83,740 lbs of food (or 108,496 items) and $32,316 in cash and vouchers was raised!

[blockquote]“I want to thank everyone who donated or volunteered, OC Transpo, the City of Ottawa, and Loblaw for their ongoing commitment to this annual food drive,” said Michael Maidment, Executive Director of the Ottawa Food Bank. “This food drive continues to be the biggest single food drive for the Ottawa Food Bank. With this incredible support, we’re able to help Ottawa’s most vulnerable families and individuals move beyond hunger this holiday season.”[/blockquote]

The food raised during this event will help the Ottawa Food Bank provide for over 41,500 people in need across the city as we head into the new year and throughout the cold Winter months.

Thank you to the hundreds of City of Ottawa volunteers who helped out during the food drive, as well as the incredible Loblaws managers and employees who helped make this campaign a success. Also, thank you to our own volunteers who not only helped during the food drive, but who are currently working hard to sort the donations so they can get to the tables and tummies of the people in our community who need it the most.

Thank you to Boom 99.7, Jump! 106,9, and The Jewel 98.5 for helping us spread the word about the food drive, as well as providing valuable volunteers and help at stores across the city.

Finally, thank you to everyone who donated to the Ottawa Food Bank through this incredible food drive. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of people in need this holiday season.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space height=”20px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_media_grid style=”load-more” element_width=”2″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1481040805594-93b15018-b1dc-10″ include=”16121,16122,16123,16119,16120,16124,16125,16126,16131,16132,16133,16134,16135,16136,16137,16138,16127,16139,16128,16130,16129″ btn_add_icon=”true” btn_custom_onclick=”true”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
