THANK YOU OTTAWA!
A record-setting number of groups, workplaces, and teams signed up for this year’s Holiday Food Drive. With over 500 participants, the Ottawa Food Bank’s shelves have been taken from practically empty to full. Our volunteer food sorters have been working hard since the Holiday Food Drive began to check, sort, box, and shelve the donations as they came in.
Over the holidays, the incredible dedication to fight hunger and the palpable giving spirit of the Holiday Food Drive participants raised a collective total of
over $211,850 and more than 120,900 lbs. of food. WOW!
This food drive is vitally important to the Ottawa Food Bank as it helps us provide for over 41,500 per month through the cold winter season. After the holidays are over, both incoming monetary and food donations drop drastically – though the need for emergency food relief across the city remains high.
Please know that your support over the holidays, and all year round, is much appreciated by the Ottawa Food Bank and the 112 community food programs across Ottawa for whom we provide food. Most of all, your contribution is appreciated by the families and individuals who find themselves in a situation where they need to ask for help. These people are doing all they can to move beyond hunger, thank you for helping them take those steps.
As the Holiday Food Drive came to a close and donation pick-ups began, we were lucky and grateful to once again have amazing help from the fine folks at Dymon Self Storage and the Army Reserve Unit from the 33rd Service Battalion – on top of our already hard-working drivers. THANK YOU!
