Give 30 is a grassroots movement to help people in need. It calls for positive change and is inspired by Ramadan. The 2018 campaign launched recently and runs until August 31, while Ramadan is May 16 – June 14.
People who observe Ramadan fast during the day. Since a key part of Ramadan is learning about hunger and poverty, and being compassionate to those in need, it seemed a perfect way to raise money to fight hunger and poverty. However, because that spirit of Ramadan is universal the founder of Give 30 wanted the initiative to be open to everyone regardless of faith or background.
The idea is simple:
- If you’re fasting contribute the money you save (or more) from not eating during the day for the month
- If you’re not fasting brown bag your lunch to save money and/or put a value on your coffee and snacks for 30 days so you can make a contribution.
You’ll be amazed at the impact a small behavioural change can have when everyone joins in.
Thank you for helping us make a difference in the lives of our neighbours.
