The 33rd annual OC Transpo Loblaws Christmas Food Drive took place on December 2nd, and it was an incredible day! Thank you to all who donated and participated, truly making the day so great.
Buses and volunteers were at over 20 Loblaw locations across the city collecting food and monetary donations. Donors, volunteers, city and OC Transpo staff, and Loblaws employees came together to raise an incredible amount for the Ottawa Food Bank and participating rural food banks.
All together, 90,412 pounds of food (or 139,322 items)
and $38,826 in cash and vouchers was raised
The food raised during this event will help the Ottawa Food Bank provide for over 41,500 people in need across the city as we head into the new year and throughout the cold Winter months.
Thank you to the hundreds of City of Ottawa and OC Transpo volunteers who helped during the food drive, as well as the incredible Loblaws managers and employees who went above and beyond to make this campaign a success. Also, thank you to our own volunteers who not only helped during the food drive, but who are currently working hard to sort through and organize the donations so we can quickly get this food out into the community and onto the supper tables of the people who need it the most.
Thank you to Boom 99.7 and Jump! 106.9 for volunteering during the day and helping us spread the word about the food drive. Your social media posts added amazing colour to the day. Thank you for your enthusiasm.
Finally, thank you to everyone who donated to the Ottawa Food Bank through this incredible food drive. Your generosity is amazing as you donated more this year than last. These donations have come to us at such a critical time, and your kindness will truly make a difference in the lives of thousands of men, women, and children in Ottawa.
