2019 Food Sort Challenge Wrap-Up

The 7th annual Food Sort Challenge, presented by Mondeau Bathroom & Kitchen was the biggest yet!

Congratulations and thank you to all the teams involved for being such wonderful ambassadors and supporters of the Ottawa Food Bank. Your enthusiasm and competitive spirits were much appreciated. Extra congratulations to the WINNERS!

When all was said and done, we had 50 amazing teams join us to compete to be the next Food Sort Champion. These generous teams helped raised over $70,000! Thanks to all who went above and beyond to help us provide food to our neighbours in need.

The winners are…

  • Most Spirited Team – Grand & Toy Green Beans cheered the day away with their pom poms
  • Top Fundraising Team – Waterford Properties raised $5,000!
  • 2019 FOOD SORT CHAMPIONS – Loblaws Team 1050 – 13 minutes 45 seconds

Loblaws Team 1050, our grand prize winners and 2019 FOOD SORT CHAMPIONS, have won a Funhaven party which includes a 1-hour escape room experience, 3 hours of arcade and attraction time, along with pizza, nachos, and beverages! Of course, they also get their name officially plated on the Food Sort Challenge Trophy. CONGRATULATIONS!

The Top Fundraising Team received 10 Camp Fortune Ariel Experience VIP passes and the Most Spirited Team will enjoy a private archery session at Archery Games!

A big thank you to Rush, Kenny B, Jenny, and Brady from The New Hot 89.9, for running the show and making us laugh along the way. Thank you to the Hot Street Team for keeping the energy going all day with music, dancing, and commentary.

The day would not have been possible if it weren’t for the amazing team of volunteers who helped clean, reset, and keep the fun going between each round. THANK YOU for your hard work and dedication.

The fun didn’t end when the Food Sort Challenge was complete. Thank you to all who carried on having a blast at the Jack Astor’s Lansdowne after party with DJ iLon! Thank you to all three Jack’s locations in Ottawa as well as Beau’s Brewery who supported the Ottawa Food Bank through fundraising efforts leading up to the Food Sort Challenge. We truly appreciate your dedication and enthusiasm.

This event wouldn’t have been as great of a success if it weren’t for our sponsors and friends of the Food Sort Challenge. Thank you to our presenting sponsor, Mondeau Bathroom & Kitchen for your incredible support. Thank you also to Jack Astor’s, Beau’s Brewery, The New Hot 89.9 FM, and Stericycle for your support and helping us with everything from parking to fun and entertainment.
