It’s BBQ season! Another great Food Aid BBQ

Thank you to all who showed up to City Hall on the first of June to enjoy a delicious WORKS burger and support the Ottawa Food Bank.

Our annual Food Aid BBQ helps raise money for the Food Aid Beef Program, which purchases beef from local farmers in an effort of provide much needed nutrients to people in need.

Thanks to the generous support of individuals and organizations in the Ottawa community, this year’s Food Aid BBQ raised $58,162. This total remains somewhat unofficial as we have begun to see Food Aid donations coming to us through the mail.

The warm weather brought out the crowds to enjoy a lunch hour filled with fun. The day including a delicious BBQ lunch grilled up by The WORKS, adorable animals, The Merry Dairy selling delicious treats, the Mayor’s Rural Expo, and all day music provided by Ottawa’s New Country 94.

We can’t say THANK YOU enough to local organizations such as Gees Bees Honey Company and The Merry Dairy who donated all or partial proceeds from the day to the Ottawa Food Bank. Thank you for your support!

Thank you to Wyatt McWilliams, Peter Ruiter, Paul Mussell, and the Food Aid Committee for your continued support, hard work, and dedication.

Thank you to the wonderful organizations who supported the Ottawa Food Bank and our Food Aid Program through the BBQ. We appreciate the support from the Mechanical Contractors Association, Farm Credit Canada, and the Ontario Farmer’s Association.

Thank you to our amazing volunteers who helped make the day so great. Algonquin College Student Services and MPI Ottawa Chapter were a great help greeting all the customers throughout the day, and thank you to the Gloucester Lions Club for helping us set up, bright and early.

The day would not have been possible, if it weren’t for the amazing sponsors who helped it all come together. Thank you to Bell Media, The WORKS, The Canadian Cattlemen’s Association ,Canadian Meat Council, the City of Ottawa and Giant Tiger. Each one of these organizations have had a long relationship with the Ottawa Food Bank and Food Aid, and we are incredibly grateful for the support.

As always, it is a pleasure to work with the City of Ottawa and their Rural Affairs Office to make this day happen and to compliment it with the Mayor’s Rural Expo.
