A Great Holiday Food Drive

Workplaces across Ottawa have shown amazing generosity!

With more offices participating than ever before, this year’s food drive beat last year, and once again, brought in record numbers!

As the last of the coins get rolled we can announce that the 2012 Holiday Food Drive brought in an amazing $62,000 and 279,000 pounds of food!

Thanks to the combined effort of nearly 440 offices in the Ottawa Region, the Ottawa Food Bank was able to supply food for those in need throughout the holiday season, and enter into the new year with solid footing.

When the Holiday Food Drive came to a close, picking up all the donations from participating offices would have be impossible if it wasn’t for the help of our wonderful volunteers, Dymon Self Storage, and the Army Reserve Unit from the 33rd Service Battalion – on top of our already hard-working drivers. Also, a big thank you to the students at Greater Ottawa Truck Training (GOTT) for their help at the beginning of the food drive, for delivering all the supplies to participating workplaces.

Year after year it is wonderful and touching to see the community come together to fight hunger in Ottawa. It is because of you, the Ottawa Food Bank supporters, that 48,000 people per month are able to receive the food they need. Thank you.
