The new monthly transit pass available to eligible people on a low income
The EquiPass will be available to an estimated 4,700 people who currently pay full price for their adult pass.
People who turn to the Ottawa Food Bank for assistance often spend resources on transit, instead of purchasing food. Limited access to transportation also restricts families from buying more nutritious food as they are unable to travel to grocery stores, often restricting people to food choices such as fast food restaurants and convenience stores.
This EquiPass is an excellent first step to help people in our city who are below the low income threshold.

Steps to getting YOUR EquiPass*

Step 1 – Apply
Application forms must be filled out and submitted for processing. You can get an EquiPass application form:
- Online application form download
- By mail – Call 613-741-4390 (TTY 613-741-5280) to request a copy
- In person at various locations across Ottawa:
- OC Transpo Customer Service Centres (Lincoln Fields, Rideau Centre, St-Laurent, Place d’Orléans, 925 Belfast Road)
- City of Ottawa Client Service Centres
- City of Ottawa Libraries
- City of Ottawa Community and Social Support Centres
- Community Health and Resource Centres
You can only submit your application:
- In person application drop-off locations at an OC Transpo Customer Service Centre, City of Ottawa Client Service Centre or Community and Social Support Centre
- By mail to:

You’ll receive a letter advising you of the status of your application within approximately 15 business days of submitting.
Step 2 – Set Your Discount
Bring your approval letter to any OC Transpo Customer Service Centre.
A Customer Service Representative will set the EquiPass discount on a registered Presto card. If you don’t already have a Presto card, you’ll need to buy one for $6.00.
The EquiPass is not transferable and can only be used by the approved customer.
Step 3 – Buy
Purchase your EquiPass:
- Online at prestocard.ca, or by phone at 1-877-378-6123 (TTY 7-1-1)
- In person at an OC Transpo Customer Service Centre, or select City of Ottawa Client Service Centre
- For Para Transpo customers, using ParaPay
