First Food Sort Challenge Results

Ready? Set. SORT!

The Ottawa Food Bank’s first ever Food Sort Challenge was a great success.

Teams showed up with a positive (and competitive!) attitude, and took to the sorting tables with enthusiasm. Throughout the course of the day a total of 14 tons of food was sorted!

Teams collected pledges leading up to the event on Friday, October 12th, and an amazing $11,697 was donated!

A big thank you for the success of the Food Sort Challenge is owed to the events two sponsors. Thank you to the title sponsor, Investors Group as well as the box sponsor, Loeb Packaging Ltd.

Following the Food Sort Challenge, there was a wrap-up party where multiple prizes were awarded.

Winners:

Best Dressed – Ottawa Citizen, Citizen APP-etizers
Most Spirited – Ottawa Sens – SENSational Sorters
Best Name – Investors Group – Super Sorter Spead Freaks
Most Fundraised – Walmart Orleans – Wheaties
Food Sort Champions – Walmart Barrhaven – Walmart Foodies

Thank you to all who were involved. It was a fun day with outcomes which will have a positive impact on our community. We can’t wait to do it again next year and we hope to see you there!
