Food Aid Day Wrap-Up

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]It may have been raining – but the fun was alive and well at this year’s Food Aid Day featuring the Mayor’s Rural Expo!

Thank you to all who came out to help us raise money for our Food Aid Beef Program. Your generous support helped us raise over $120,000!

Our Food Aid Program, purchases local beef for families in need. Ground beef can provide essential dietary nutrients and proteins that someone in need of food assistance may otherwise find difficult to obtain.

By the numbers:

  • Breakfast served approximately 200 people
  • Breakfast raised $1,180 in donations
  • The WORKS served up approximately 800 burgers at lunch and raised $8,500

The generosity and kindness of our community never ceases to amaze us. Thank you all for your continued support, and for helping us get our neighbors beyond hunger.

A special thanks to everyone involved: CFRA, CTV Morning Live, CTV News at Noon, Ottawa’s New Country 94, Stanley’s Olde Maple Lane Farm, The WORKS, Mechanical Contractors Association of Ottawa, the City of Ottawa, Schneiders, Fresh Start Foods, Saputo, ACE Bakery, Canadian Meat Council, CCA, The Lions, MPI, Enbridge, SoundCheck Entertainment, The Blackwell Band, Ontario Federation of Agriculture, Farm Credit Canada, Giant Tiger, our celebrity pancake flippers and cow milkers, Jeff Hopper, Laura May (#FoodBankAlumni), all the wonderful rural Ottawa vendors, our MC Alex, our entire Food Aid Committee and, of course, Wyatt McWilliams.
