Nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 appel\u00e9s \u00abessentiels\u00bb.<\/p>

Notre personnel de premi\u00e8re ligne et nos b\u00e9n\u00e9voles d\u00e9vou\u00e9s n’avaient encore jamais re\u00e7u ce titre gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 leur travail dans une banque alimentaire. Mais lorsque la pand\u00e9mie a frapp\u00e9, \u00e0 quel point ils sont essentiels n’a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 aussi clair.<\/p>

Jour apr\u00e8s jour, les employ\u00e9s et les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles des banques alimentaires se mettent en danger pour s’assurer que les plus vuln\u00e9rables de notre ville re\u00e7oivent la nourriture dont ils ont besoin.<\/p>

Nous avons \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9courag\u00e9s lorsque \u00ables employ\u00e9s et les b\u00e9n\u00e9voles des banques alimentaires de premi\u00e8re ligne\u00bb ne sont pas apparus tout de suite dans le d\u00e9ploiement du vaccin. Alors, nous avons attendu. Notre lueur d’espoir est venue pendant le d\u00e9ploiement de la phase deux lorsque ces mots sont finalement apparus dans le cadre du plan. Et quand nous avons entendu dire que les communaut\u00e9s \u00e0 haut risque seraient prioritaires, nous nous sommes sentis comme une lumi\u00e8re au bout de ce long tunnel sombre.<\/p>

Cependant, maintenant, le syst\u00e8me de vaccination s’est ouvert aux personnes de 40 ans et plus, ce qui est excellent en th\u00e9orie. Mais cela a cr\u00e9\u00e9 un chaos en ligne, un syst\u00e8me d’inscription d\u00e9routant et un arri\u00e9r\u00e9 de listes d’attente multiples. \u00c0 travers tout cela, il n’y a aucun moyen de trier les travailleurs essentiels des banques alimentaires pour leur donner la priorit\u00e9 et leur permettre de retourner au travail en se sentant un peu plus en s\u00e9curit\u00e9. Un peu moins \u00e0 risque.<\/p>

C’est un probl\u00e8me dans notre syst\u00e8me de vaccination. Les employ\u00e9s de banques alimentaires de toute la ville continuent de se mettre en danger en faisant le travail qu\u2019ils aiment; faire un travail qui leur a \u00e9t\u00e9 dit par tous les paliers de gouvernement est \u00abessentiel\u00bb.<\/p>

Ces personnes doivent \u00eatre plac\u00e9es en t\u00eate de file. Nous avons vu des banques alimentaires fermer et nous continuerons de les voir fermer si leur personnel et leurs b\u00e9n\u00e9voles ne re\u00e7oivent pas la priorit\u00e9. <\/strong><\/p>

Permettez-moi d’\u00eatre clair, je ne demande pas ce correctif dans le syst\u00e8me pour moi-m\u00eame. Je suis le chef de la direction de la Banque alimentaire d’Ottawa – mais je ne fais pas partie des h\u00e9ros de premi\u00e8re ligne qui fournissent de la nourriture directement aux personnes de notre communaut\u00e9 chaque jour.<\/p>

Je demande cette solution pour les gens des programmes alimentaires et des banques alimentaires communautaires de la ville qui sont l\u00e0 pour aider leurs voisins dont ils se soucient si fortement. Je demande cela pour nos travailleurs des op\u00e9rations qui ramassent des dons dans les \u00e9piceries et qui livrent de la nourriture directement aux programmes des banques alimentaires dans toutes les collectivit\u00e9s de la ville. Je demande ce correctif pour nos employ\u00e9s qui livrent de la nourriture directement au domicile des personnes qui doivent s’isoler.<\/p>

Ce personnel et ces b\u00e9n\u00e9voles sont des travailleurs vraiment essentiels.
