Med Students Healing Hungry Tummies

UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA SCHOOL OF MEDICINE CLASS OF 2014 MEDSHOW

It has become tradition for the first year students at the U of O School of Medicine to find a way to raise funds for a charitable organization of their choice. This year, the class of 2014 chose to lend support to the Ottawa Food Bank.

In mid-April the students put on quite the event filled with food, a silent auction, and fun – but the main attraction was their show, entitled The XY-Files, which was created, directed, and performed by the class! The show followed two first-year medical students as they explore various facets of medicine while attempting to uncover the secrets behind a mysterious disappearance.

The audience must have loved it, because through the ticket sales, bake sale, silent auction, and generosity of classmates the students donated over $16,000 to the Ottawa Food Bank!

A couple of the students stopped by for a tour of the warehouse and to present the donation to a few very awestruck and appreciative Ottawa Food Bank staffers on Sept 29. Thank you very much to the U of O School of Medicine class of 2014 for all your hard work. You are truly helping heal hungry tummies!
