THANK YOU Ottawa Community Foundation (formally Community Foundation of Ottawa) for supporting the Ottawa Food Bank’s Fare Share Program– Save Food Change Lives!
With support from a multi-year grant of $45,000 we will be able to expand our food recovery program and increase the amount of nutritious and prepared food we collect throughout the city.
The Ottawa Food Bank has been recovering food in the Ottawa community for almost 20 years. We work with local restaurants, hotels, and hospitality partners to recover meals which are then delivered directly to meal programs. We also work with grocery store partners to recover dry and fresh goods.
This initiative provides quality food for those who need it, as well as reduces food waste in our community. Something we are also looking into, thanks to this grant, is the capacity to extend the life of perishable items by processing the food into new products for clients.
