This year’s Food Aid Day was a huge success; thanks to the wonderful generosity of the people of Ottawa, together we raised $160,010!
The money raised on Food Aid Day will go towards the Ottawa Food Bank’s Food Aid Program, which purchases and processes local beef for families in need. Ground beef can provide essential dietary nutrients that someone in need of food assistance may have a hard time getting.
This year was the first year that we included a breakfast portion to the day. It proved to be a crowd pleaser! Also adding to the fun was all the wonderful exhibits included in the Mayor’s Rural Expo. Thank you to all the wonderful vendors who hung out with us all day.
Food Serving Stats:
- About 350 Pancake Breakfasts were served
- This year about 1,300 burgers at City Hall and 700 at Agriculture Canada were served.
A special thanks to everyone involved: CFRA, CTV2, the WORKS, City of Ottawa – Rural Affairs Office and Mayor’s Office, Canadian Meat Council, Mechanical Contractors Association, Agriculture Canada / CFIA, Chase, Bell, Genband, Carp Fair Association, Stanley Farm, Proulx Farm, Canadian Cattleman’s Association, all the fantastic entertainment, the Lions Club, Ottawa’s Countryside, our celebrity pancake flippers and cow milkers, Stuntman Stu, Jane Patterson, Paul Mussell and, of course, Wyatt McWilliams. THANK YOU ALL!
