Scouts Canada is an organization where children can discover the best in themselves and each other. The Annual Scouts, Metro, Purolator Food Drive in support of the Ottawa Food Bank does just that, as these little volunteers with big hearts head to local Metro grocery stores and encourage shoppers to donate.
In just six hours on Saturday, the hard working Scouts collected a combined total of over $8,725 and approximately 7,745 lbs of food for the Ottawa Food Bank, with additional donations going to the food banks in Nepean, Barrhaven, and Kanata!
What’s even more impressive about this food drive is the inner workings of it all. The Scouts work hard during the day at Metro locations across the city, while amazing volunteers from Purolator go around to each location to pick up all the donations and deliver them to the Ottawa Food Bank warehouse. More Scouts were also at the Ottawa Food Bank warehouse throughout the food drive to sort and organize all the donations as they are collected throughout the day!
Thank you to everyone from Scouts Canada in Ottawa, Purolator, and participating Metro locations for your incredible and continued support. Also, thank you very much to everyone how donated throughout the day. Initiatives like this, with the generous support of the Ottawa community, make a huge difference in the lives of people in need across our city. Thank you.
