TD Friends of the Environment has generously donated $4,000 to help purchase gardening equipment for our Community Harvest School Volunteer Program- Growing Food & Feeding Minds. Community Harvest provides a greater quantity and variety of healthy foods to people in need in our community.
The youth volunteer portion of the program focuses on providing elementary and high school students who help at our farm site in Stittsville with a unique and fulfilling opportunity to:
- Plant, harvest, and glean produce
- Broaden their understanding of agriculture
- Gain first hand appreciation of how their contributions help provide nutritious food to those less fortunate
