RECORD-BREAKING FOOD DRIVE!
The Ottawa community responded with enthusiasm to our Holiday Food Drive challenge, where we asked individuals and workplaces to collect food and funds for the Ottawa Food Bank over the holidays.
As our trucks rolled in with donations and participants showed up to our warehouse with full boxes, it was clear this year’s food drive was going to be a big one!
With nearly 430 workplaces participating (50 more than last year), donors collected 36,000 more pounds of food than last year’s record-breaking food drive. This year, 276,000 pounds of food and over $60,000 was donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.
The overwhelming number of food drive pick-ups would not have been possible without the help of Dymon Self Storage and the Army Reserve Unit from the 33rd Service Battalion. Dymon provided a truck and a driver for the entire two weeks of food drive pick-up dates, and the 33rd Service Battalion also hit the streets in their trucks to help bring donations to our warehouse from offices across Ottawa.
It is touching to see Ottawa come together as a community to help fight local hunger. Your donations will help feed the 45,000 individuals the Ottawa Food Bank provides food for every month. Thank you to everyone who participated, donated and volunteered!
