Tune in to CBC Ottawa’s Project Give This Friday, December 11th!

CBC Ottawa’s Project Give will focus on storytelling and community kindness during the pandemic.

On Friday, December 11, CBC Ottawa will host Project Give. While we can’t ask Ottawa to join us in person this year, we continue our commitment to support the Ottawa Food Bank and bring our audience a full day of stories, songs and memorable moments.

Due to the pandemic, our plans for this year’s charity drive may look and sound a bit different as we pivot to virtual gatherings, however, it will have the same goal at heart: to tell stories of those helping to fight hunger, make an impact in our city, and share moments of kindness and joy during these challenging times.

Last year, the CBC Ottawa audience helped put food on plates for tens of thousands of community members by raising more than $200,000 as part of CBC Project Give 2019.

Here’s a look at what’s happening on Dec. 11:

5:30-8:30 a.m. | Ottawa Morning

Wake up with Ottawa Morning and host Robyn Bresnahan. For this special show, tune in to hear deserving listeners receive Random Calls of Kindness from Canadian celebrities. We can’t share who they are—or we’ll ruin the surprise. Plus, Robyn will kick off the sounds of the season with local musicians, including Marie Clo, Angelique Francis, Diane Nalini and Adrian Cho.

3-6 p.m. | All In A Day

Join host Alan Neal for a special All in a Day where he’ll bring neighbours, friends, musicians and families together over the radio and online to reflect on the extraordinary year that has passed and highlight the needs in our community that the Ottawa Food Bank and its partners are working hard to address.

Alan will be dropping in on virtual family dinners and friends’ cocktail hours throughout the show, all organized in support of the Ottawa Food Bank, to hear stories of remembrance, reflection and hope. Plus, we’ll hear exclusive songs by pairings of local musicians including Steve Marriner, Kellylee Evans, Blakdenim and more that reflect the lessons and emotions of 2020.

6-7 p.m. | CBC Ottawa News at 6

Rounding up the highlights of the day, Adrian Harewood will be live in the community and Lucy Van Oldenbarneveld will be back in studio to bring you fundraising updates, interviews and stories as part of a special newscast.

Make the Season Kind | 12 Days of Kindness and the CBC Ottawa Kindness Calendar

Throughout the month of December, CBC Ottawa is celebrating the strength of the human spirit, the generosity of those around us and the inspiring moments that make a difference through the special digital community series 12 Days of Kindness. Each day until Dec. 12, we are revealing a new story online featuring a local member of the community whose small acts of kindness are making a big impact. Click here to find out more.

As a special thank you to our audience, we are offering a limited edition CBC Ottawa 2021 Kindness Calendar for a suggested minimum donation of $50 as part of Project Give. Click here for more details on how to get a copy. There are only 100 copies available.
