The holiday season is just around the corner, bringing wonderful opportunities to make a difference in our community. As part of our #HolidayFoodDrive and 40th-anniversary commemorations, we’re thrilled to partner with generous organizations and offer multiple ways for you to get involved. Your support helps us provide vital resources for those facing food insecurity—and together, we can brighten the holidays for everyone!
Here are some of the upcoming events supporting the Ottawa Food Bank this holiday season!
Holiday Food Drive Presented by Mosaic
November 1st to January 17th – Join us in making a difference this season through our very own Holiday Food Drive presented by Mosaic, celebrating 40 years of community impact! It’s a perfect time to participate or make a donation to help families in need. Your support can bring essential items like rice, pasta, canned fruits and vegetables, and more to those who need it most.
Tim Horton's Holiday Smile Cookie
November 18th to November 24th – The Tim Horton’s Smile Cookie campaign will raise funds for the Senators Community Foundation with proceeds going to the Ottawa Food Bank. Visit your local Ottawa Tim Horton’s to purchase your delicious Holiday Smile Cookie and support our community.
CTV Holiday Helpers
November 18th to December 13th – The CTV Morning Live Holiday Helpers Food Drive in support of the Ottawa Food Bank helps raise awareness around the importance of donating during a critical time of year. If you’d like to participate in the CTV Morning Live Holiday Helpers Food Drive, you can drop off non-perishable food item donations during the special broadcast at 87 George St on Friday, December 13th. If you can’t make it down in person, you can still contribute by making an online monetary donation.
Healthy Planet Holiday Fundraiser
November 22nd to December 18th – Healthy Planet is running an in-store fundraiser for customers to donate via TipTap machines to help the Ottawa Food Bank purchase fresh food. Together, we can support our neighbours struggling to afford enough to eat this holiday season. Make a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank today at your local Healthy Planet.
Movati Cares Holiday Food Drive
November 23rd to December 19th – Movati Athletic is giving back this season with Movati Cares, a special food and fundraising campaign to support the Ottawa Food Bank! Members and guests can donate at any of the four participating Ottawa locations. Join Movati in helping make a difference for families in our community this holiday season
Trans-Siberian Orchestra Food Drive
November 27th – This year, multi-platinum rock group Trans-Siberian Orchestra (TSO) kicks off a monumental winter tour on Nov. 13. This year marks a triple celebration: 20 years of their beloved rock opera “THE LOST CHRISTMAS EVE,” reaching their 20 millionth concertgoer, and surpassing a phenomenal $20 million donated to charity
Loblaw™ Feed More Families Holiday Food Drive
November 28th to December 24th – As part of its commitment to “Feed More Families,” Loblaw Companies Limited is marking 15 years of biannual food drives in support of local food banks in communities across the country.
Since 2009, Loblaw and Food Banks Canada have teamed up for the Spring & Holiday Feed More Families™ Food Drives, with more than $3.4 million in funds and 2.6 million pounds of food being collected in 2023 alone. (Food Banks Canada)
CBC Make The Season Kind
November 25th to December 31st – CBC Ottawa’s holiday campaign is back! You may know it as Project Give, but this year, CBC Ottawa has joined 26 other CBC stations nationwide under a new name: Make the Season Kind.
The name is new, but the purpose is the same. CBC is supporting the Ottawa Food Bank and hosting a night of programming on Thursday, December 5th. Admission is free, but you’ll need to reserve your seat ahead of time. For tickets – REGISTER HERE.
NAC FanFair
December 1st – This beloved annual tradition is sure to fill your heart with holiday cheer. Join the NAC Orchestra for a delightful noon-hour concert featuring festive classics and timeless favourites. With special guest performances, including flutist Annie Noël-de-Tilly, second-place winner of the 2024 NACO Bursary Competition, plus a lively sing-along of familiar holiday carols.
FanFair celebrates the spirit of giving! Take in our renowned fundraising bake sale, featuring seasonal holiday treats, and a charming pre-performance by the talented young musicians of OrKidstra – all before the FanFair concert begins.
Cap Corp Bake Sale
December 3rd – All proceeds go to the Ottawa Food Bank and Capcorp Financial Corporation matches $1 for $1 all contributions.
Christmas Cheer
December 6th – The Christmas Cheer Breakfast raised over $100,000 for 28 local charities in 2023 thanks to support from the community and our sponsors. Help us raise $140,000 in 2024!
Mayor's Christmas Party
December 7th – Come celebrate the holiday season at City Hall! Admission to this sponsored event is a donation to the Ottawa Food Bank and you can also indulge in delicious BeaverTails for only $2 with all proceeds going directly to those in need.
The City of Ottawa is proud to partner with Cedar Hill Christmas Tree Farm who will sell trees, wreaths and potted trees at the event, with $5 from the sale of each item donated to the Ottawa Food Bank. Cash or debit cards are preferred, but they also accept credit cards.
Big Soul Project Community Choir
December 7th – Big Soul Project Community Choir (BSP) is one of Ottawa’s largest community choirs, whose 120+ members share songs of hope, love and peace to promote a sense of joy and empowerment. BSP fuses the vocal energy of a large choir with the smooth sound of its talented house band, Deep Groove.
OC Transpo / Loblaw Food Drive
December 14th – OC Transpo is holding its 40th annual OC Transpo/Loblaw Holiday Food Drive. Drop off your non-perishable food donations from 10 am to 5 pm at participating Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer and No Frills stores across Ottawa.
