The 2015 OC Transpo/Loblaw Food Drive results are in!

The wrap-up revealed that approximately 210,000 lbs. (or 109,495 items) of food and $32,382 in cash and food vouchers were delivered and donated to the Ottawa Food Bank!

[blockquote]“The holiday season can be a difficult time for many individuals and families here in our city, but, thanks to the generosity of Ottawa residents through this year’s OC Transpo Food Drive, you are helping to make it that much brighter,” said Mayor Jim Watson. “I would like to thank OC Transpo employees, City employees, food drive partners and the many volunteers and donors who worked so hard to ensure the most vulnerable members of our community have food and supplies during this holiday season.”[/blockquote]

This annual tradition means a great deal to the Ottawa Food Bank and the nearly 50,000 people we serve each month.

[blockquote]“The Ottawa Food Bank and the OC Transpo/Loblaws Food Drive have been hand-in-hand for an incredible 31 years. As such, I want to thank everyone who made it special. Thank you to all who donated and volunteered, and thank you to OC Transpo, the City of Ottawa, and Loblaw for their continued commitment to help people in need in our community,” said Michael Maidment, Executive Director of the Ottawa Food Bank. “This event happens every year at such a critical time, and is pivotal to helping us get our neighbours beyond hunger.”[/blockquote]

Thank you to the hundreds of City of Ottawa volunteers who helped out during the food drive, as well as the incredible Loblaws managers and employees who help make this campaign a success. Also, thank you to our own volunteers who not only helped during the food drive, but who worked and continue to work so hard to sort the food so it can get to the tables and tummies of the people in our community who need it the most.

Finally, thank you to everyone who donated to the Ottawa Food Bank through this incredible food drive. Your generosity will make a difference in the lives of people in need this holiday season.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_media_grid element_width=”3″ grid_id=”vc_gid:1449868399530-a27a16a1-d11c-5″ include=”14582,14583,14584,14585,14586,14597,14598,14599″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

  1. We look forward to donating each year. My daughter, husband and I (and now new born baby)always put together two boxes plus other things we donate throughout the year. We love doing it and recognize how important it is. Most years we don’t find out where the drives are occurring until the last minute (if at all. eg.this year)

Is there a way for busy families who don’t have time to watch TV often or be on Facebook or Twitter to know how to donate in a timely manner?

We will definitely make sure this year’s donation makes it somewhere important!

Thank you for all the good work you do! We just want to help as much as we can!

    Merry Christmas!

    1. Thank you for your support and your kind words! This year, feel free to place your donation in one of our red donation cages at a grocery store near you.
Sorry you didn’t make it to a OC Transpo location. Once we know the locations, we always put them on our website in our event calendar. Here’s what this year’s event post looked like: https://www.ottawafoodbank.ca/event/oc-transpo-annual-christmas-food-drive/

Merry Christmas Jessica, and congratulations on the new baby!
