Tours for Meals allows Saintlo Ottawa Jail Hostel to offer our famous jail tours for donations! Held 3 times a day across all three days of the food drive, folks can learn about the jail’s 160 year-old history (including stories of its most infamous prisoners) in exchange for food donations to the Ottawa Food Bank.
For a donation of: two cans of fish, fruit, vegetables, or baby food; or a donation of 1 jar of nut butter or pasta sauce, you can take a tour through a historic building that served as the Carleton County Jail for over 150 years!
Groups of four can donate 1 box of diapers, 1 box of baby formula, or 1 box of baby food instead. Available time slots are at 9 AM, 1 PM, and 4 PM from Sunday, December 14th to Tuesday, December 16th.
Please email JailTours@Saintlo.ca with subject line “Tours for Meals” to book your tour!
FYI: the building was built in 1862, so there are a lot of stairs, and unfortunately no elevators.
