Thank You Holiday Food Drive All-Stars!

We're blown away by the generosity of our Holiday Food Drive Ambassadors!

Every year, we rely on our Holiday Food Drive, presented by Mosaic, to get us through the holiday season and into the new year. This year in particular, when the need is greater than ever before, we are so grateful for how generously the community has showed up to support us!

From concerts and art auctions, to workplace and neighbourhood food & fundraisers, we are humbled and grateful to see the many forms that community support can take.

This year, we are highlighting some outstanding Holiday Food Drive ambassadors as our HFD ALL-STARS!

Meet local artist Christopher Griffin!

Between Thanksgiving and New Year’s, Christopher runs his Every Thursday Art Auction, where he auctions off an original painting and donates the proceeds to the Ottawa Food Bank. He began this initiative shortly after the COVID-19 pandemic started and this year alone he has raised over $7,000! Christopher’s efforts are a great example of how people can use their existing platforms and audiences to support the community.

Christopher also joined this year’s CTV Holiday Helpers broadcast on December 1st to share how the 2022 art auctions have been going so far.

Thank you, Christopher, for your continued support!

Let’s meet another HFD All-Star: CapCorp

This financial services company has been supporting the Ottawa Food Bank for over a decade and their initiative has grown from their own workplace food drive into a large campaign calling on the broader business community to get involved.

CapCorp’s FILL THE FOYER campaign encourages businesses to collect food and funds, while CapCorp themselves donates $1 per food item collected and also match every dollar donated!

This year’s FILL THE FOYER was hugely successful and raised over $100,000! This is such an incredible show of support from the business community, thanks to CapCorp’s work in inspiring others to give!

Meet our final HFD All-Star: Red Bird live music venue!

Located in Old Ottawa South, Red Bird hosted a weekend of fundraiser concerts in support of the Ottawa Food Bank on November 25th and 26th. Proceeds from ticket sales were being donated, and even the performers opted to forward their fees to the Ottawa Food Bank!

This was a true show of community support for the venue to offer their space, and the artists to offer their time and work, all culminating in over $5,000 raised!

Check out the roster of local artists who took part!

Thank you, Red Bird, for bringing people together to enjoy some great live music and support community members facing food insecurity!

We are so grateful for every single participant in Holiday Food Drive, whether you’re doing it for the first time or the tenth time, everything helps and makes a real difference for our member agencies and fellow community members!

This support through the giving season helps us stay stocked through the winter months so we can continue providing sustainable support our member agencies and neighbours facing food insecurity.

Thank you!
