This year marked the 40th Annual OC Transpo / Loblaw Holiday Food Drive. On Saturday, December 14, residents across Ottawa visited participating Loblaw stores to donate food and funds to the Ottawa Food Bank.
Since the time the Ottawa Food Bank was founded in 1984, OC Transpo, Loblaw, and the City of Ottawa have come together over the holidays to support the community through donations of food and funds. As food bank usage in Ottawa hit a 40-year record this year, contributions made through events like these are vital to providing families with nutritious food during and beyond the holiday season.
This year’s event would not have been possible without OC Transpo, Loblaw, and the City of Ottawa. Additionally, over 200 volunteers signed up to collect donations at over 27 participating stores. We sincerely thank everyone who not only donated food and funds, but also their time.
Together, the community contributed:
$25,500 in monetary donations
81,000 lbs of food
Thank you again to our dedicated donors, partners, and volunteers for thinking of our neighbours this holiday season!
