During the week of December 9, the Ottawa Food Bank was honoured to partner with CTV Morning Live for the Holiday Helpers Food Drive, sponsored by BoxMeUp and Doyle Salewski Inc. The week-long campaign featured stories from our community, concluding with an epic, on-air food and funds drive with supporters joining us live on TV at Bell Media’s Ottawa studio!
The official Holiday Helpers Food Drive campaign kicked off on November 18! From December 9 to 13 in particular, viewers heard from members of our community including: Bob Morrissey (Volunteer), Cort Sarion (Team Lead, equiTABLE Resident Action Group), Kelly Barry (Registered Dietitian), Stephanie Clarke (Member, equiTABLE Resident Action Group), Tom Robson (Community Harvest Coordinator), and Rachael Wilson (CEO). To conclude the week, we were joined on-air by individuals and groups that contributed food and funds live during the December 13th edition of CTV Morning Live Ottawa. At a time when 1 in 4 households are experiencing food insecurity, 60% of whom are severely food insecure, it was heartwarming to see the community brave the cold to make these donations.
