As we enter the last few weeks of 2024, we reflect on the generosity of all our donors who have contributed food and funds to the Ottawa Food Bank. For those who may still be looking to give before we ring in 2025, here are some reminders on just how you can do so:
1) Donate Stocks or Securities
Be sure to send your completed donation forms BY TUESDAY DECEMBER 23RD to jenn@ottawafoodbank.ca.
- Forms can be found on our Gift of Securities page.
- Donations submitted by December 23 receive a 2024 charitable receipt for 2024, making your generosity count for this tax year.
- Donations of securities after December 23 will still be accepted but we can’t promise a receipt for 2024 due to the high volume we’re expecting.
- If you’ve already given or plan to give through securities – DO NOT WORRY – Receipts for these gifts will be sent out in January.
Note: The procedure for donating the shares is as simple as transferring ownership of the securities from the donor’s account to the Ottawa Food Bank’s account. This takes only a few days, and the value of your gift is determined by the closing price of the security on the day the securities are received in the Ottawa Food Bank brokerage account.
2) Participate in Holiday Events
We are honoured to be receiving gifts from multiple holiday events run by our community. Check out our Events Calendar for the latest events in support of the Ottawa Food Bank, and follow us on social media.
Don’t forget, you can take part in the Holiday Food Drive 2024 Presented by Mosaic all the way until January 17, 2025!
3) Make a General Donation of Food or Funds
We are incredibly thankful for the community of supporters like you who help donate food and funds to the Ottawa Food Bank, supporting neighbours experiencing hunger.
Remember, giving isn’t just about gifts; it’s about sharing kindness and making a real difference. Every bit counts, whether donating, lending a hand, or spreading the word.
As we wrap up the year, let’s keep the spirit of giving alive and share a little warmth and hope with those who need it now. Amid the holiday buzz, thank you for your support of the Ottawa Food Bank to help deliver fresh and nutritious food to our community.
