Community Harvest Program gets a boost from the Community Foundation of Ottawa

Our Community Harvest farming project machinery is in the process of getting some much-needed upgrades thanks to funding by a grant from the Community Foundation of Ottawa.

The Ottawa Food Bank has just received $10,000 from the Community Foundation of Ottawa’s Community Grant Program. This generous grant will enable the Ottawa Food Bank to purchase much needed tractor parts and implements to prepare its older farm tractor for the Community Harvest season.

The used tractor was generously donated to the Ottawa Food Bank by a local farming family this past October when they heard about Community Harvest and its work helping those in need.

Last year, our Community Harvest Program grew over 101,700 lbs of fresh produce. This support from the Community Foundation of Ottawa will help up keep up with the demand for these essential and nutritious food items for people in need.

The Community Foundation of Ottawa has been a dedicated supporter of the Community Harvest Program since its inception.  For their support and commitment we are truly grateful.
