On October 10, 2026, we were thrilled to see our community get into the holiday spirit, with 26 grocery stores across Ottawa participating in this year’s Thanks for Giving Food Drive.
Our volunteers greeted shoppers in each store, encouraging them to pick up non-perishable items or give funds to help ensure families, friends, and neighbours can celebrate the season with full plates, and have access to healthy, nutritious food all year long.
On the day, 140 volunteers came out and gave nearly 580 hours on their Saturday off, connecting with neighbours all over the city and inspiring our community to get involved. Your dedication, compassion, and kindness made a truly meaningful difference in just one day, and we cannot thank you enough.
Thank you to every one of you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to donate non-perishable items or funds. Your generosity will help provide your neighbours with healthy, nutritious food through over 92 food programs across Ottawa.
Thanks to the participating stores, Ottawa Fire Services, hard-working volunteers and generous donors, we raised a total of:
36,544 lbs of non-perishable items
36,322 dollars in funds

Donations during the Fall and holiday season support our community all year long. If you were not able to support the food drive, it’s never too late to give! Please consider donating here or dropping off the most needed item at your nearest grocery store.
