The 2023 Fight Hunger Spark Change campaign has come to an end, and it has been a huge success!
This annual campaign, launched by Walmart Canada and Food Banks Canada, aims to raise funds and awareness for the issue of food insecurity in our country. Food insecurity affects millions of Canadians every year, and it has worsened due to the pandemic and the rising costs of living. In Ottawa, the network of food banks and food programs saw over 403,000 visits from people needing food support last year alone.
Thanks to the generosity of Walmart Canada, its suppliers, and its customers, the campaign raised $6.1 million nationally. Out of this amount, the Ottawa Food Bank will receive $109,037.77, which will help us provide nutritious food to our member food programs and their communities.
We are so grateful to Walmart Canada and Food Banks Canada for their partnership and collaboration. They have shown their commitment to fighting hunger and sparking change in communities across Canada. We also want to thank our local Walmart stores and their staff for their enthusiasm and support throughout the campaign.
Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our neighbours who face food insecurity every day.
