From volunteer to devoted supporter, Maureen F. has been a longstanding member of the Ottawa Food Bank community.
From 2017-2018, visitors at the Ottawa Food Bank offices were often greeted by Maureen who volunteered her time at reception. For Maureen, this experience brought to light the realities of food insecurity in Ottawa. But Maureen is no stranger to the issues that challenge our city.
As a non-profit professional, Maureen has worked for organizations supporting veterans, and supporting people experiencing homelessness and addictions. At just 30 years old, Maureen has immersed herself personally and professionally into work that helps make Ottawa better.
What stands out about Maureen is that she is future-focused and already thinking about her legacy. In fact, Maureen dedicates a portion of her Registered Retirement Savings Plan to the Ottawa Food Bank – an effortless action that makes a difference.
By donating to the Ottawa Food Bank, Maureen’s kindness will have an incredible impact on Ottawa.
Maureen’s story is an example of how millennials and young professionals can engage with planned giving. Leaving a legacy through the Ottawa Food Bank’s Tomorrow’s Harvest program allows you to make a gift through a bequest, life insurance, or securities. Taking part in planned giving is a great way to make a lasting impact on reducing food insecurity in Ottawa.
