It is with mixed emotions that the Ottawa Food Bank Board of Directors shares the news that Michael Maidment will be moving on from his role as the Ottawa Food Bank’s CEO.
Mike has taken a new role as President and CEO of the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation, which will begin on September 21, 2020. Although we will miss Mike’s passion and leadership, we wish him all the best in this next part of his journey.
The Board will select an Interim CEO from our existing team within the next week. This person will take us through the next few months and ensure a smooth transition until a new CEO is appointed. Until that time, the Board of Directors has every confidence in the senior leadership and the staff to continue to deliver on the mission and vision of the Ottawa Food Bank. The next steps for the leadership search will be communicated as soon as possible.
We thank Mike for his seven years of dedication and passion to the cause of food security in Ottawa. He has transformed the organization in his time at the helm, helping to provide financial stability, increasing brand awareness, and inspiring leadership, which has allowed the Ottawa Food Bank and network to flourish. We look forward to following the success of his career.
We are hopeful for, and committed to, the next chapter of the Ottawa Food Bank as we continue our important work to support the network of food programs in our city.
If you have any questions or concerns about the transition, please do not hesitate to contact me at board@ottawafoodbank.ca.
Sincerely,
Greg Strahl

please explain why the orleans community centre /food bank is canvassing for donations when I asked the ottawa food bank if they served the greater ottawa area and they said yes.
ottawa. food bank received a large $ boost with donations and this should be shared
Hi there,
Thank you for your concern. We do send food to the Orléans-Cumberland Food Bank. Each food bank is its own separate entity, and a lot of them ask for donations for food items they may elect to purchase that we may not always be able to provide.
I hope this clarifies things a little bit for you.
