Holiday Food Drive
It is hard enough to not be able to provide gifts to your loved ones at this time of year. But not being able to provide food either is heartbreaking! That’s why, each November, we call on YOU and challenge workplaces and groups across Ottawa to collect funds and non-perishable food for families in need, as part of our Holiday Food Drive.
The Holiday Food Drive is a great way to bring in the holiday season, and the proceeds help the Ottawa Food Bank provide emergency food service for its community food programs and their clients well into the winter months.
Tenant-Landlord Spring Hope Food Drive
Each year, landlords from across the city ask the tenants in their residences to donate non-perishable food items to the Ottawa Food Bank.
If you’re a landlord, we need your help next April.
Fill Plates Food Drive
Our Fill Plates Food Drive happens every spring and is always our LAST major food drive until the giving season begins in October. This means we need to ensure our shelves stay stocked and that we’re able to continue to Fill Plates through the spring and summer months.
Annual Food Sort Challenge
Excited for this year’s Food Sort Challenge? We are too!
The Food Sort Challenge is a fast-paced corporate and community challenge, where teams of ten compete head-to-head to see who can sort food the fastest! This event is a great team builder and we hope to attract over 50 teams from across business sectors and the community.
Incredible prizes are awarded to the fastest team as well as the top fundraisers, and the most spirited team. Besides bragging rights and awesome prizes, the fastest team of the day will receive a trophy! Who doesn’t like trophies?
Now held at the Aberdeen Pavilion, the Food Sort Challenge has grown to new heights!
Food Aid BBQ
Since meat is so expensive, it can be difficult for struggling families to get enough of it in their diets. With our Food Aid program, we raise money to buy cows that we can process locally, freeze, and distribute to our member agencies to give to people in need.
To raise money for our Food Aid program, we hold an annual BBQ. After all, what better way to raise money for a program that supplies beef to those in need than by selling burgers from The Works?
Ottawa Food Security Conference
The Ottawa Food Bank is pleased to host its 3rd Annual Ottawa Food Security Conference, with the this year’s event being a COVID-19 Debrief and Engagement Session. This conference aims to develop and grow the discourse around food security in Ottawa through knowledge sharing and professional development.
Thanks for Giving Food Drive
Amazing Ottawa Food Bank volunteers set up in grocery stores across the city to encourage shoppers to donate to the Ottawa Food Bank to help restock shelves as we prepare for the cold months ahead.
This food drive usually take place during the Thanksgiving weekend.
