This holiday season, help give hope and health to people in need in Ottawa. Join CBC Ottawa on Friday, Dec. 13 for the annual charity drive, Project Give, in support of the Ottawa Food Bank.
We will be out in the community and at the National Art Centre with CBC from sunrise to sundown, bringing you a special day of LIVE radio and TV broadcasts, music, and charitable giving. This year, CBC Ottawa will present a whole day of LIVE broadcasts with your favourite local hosts and reporters. Ottawa Morning, All in a Day and News at 6 will be live on locations with stories, live music, and contests in support of the Ottawa Food Bank.
Every month, more than 39,000 people are helped by the Ottawa Food Bank. Your support through CBC Project Give makes an important difference in their lives.
Schedule Details:
5:30-8:30 a.m. | Ottawa Morning
Wake up with Ottawa Morning and host Robyn Bresnahan live from Equator Coffee Roasters at the National Arts Centre. For this special show, we’ve matched up local musicians to perform some of your favourite holiday tunes. Rebecca Noelle will be joined by Tyler Kelee, and Kellylee Evans will take the mic along with JW Jones and Jeff Rogers. Stick around after the show and have a coffee with the Ottawa Morning crew. We’ll be handing out free coffee coupons to the first 50 people to join us between 5:30 and 8:30.
Noon | Noontime concert on the stairs (and get your limited edition CBC Ottawa mugs!)
Join Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and Adrian Harewood, co-hosts of CBC Ottawa News at 6, for a free concert on the Thornsteinson Glass Staircase featuring local gypsy jazz band, Django Libre. The Ottawa ensemble had everyone on their feet at last year’s Project Give noon-time concert, and so we are bringing them back for an encore.
1:15 to 1:45 p.m. | Drumming Workshop with Kathy Armstrong
Drumming, movement and singing brings people together and provides an opportunity to develop creativity, enhance health and wellness, develop focus and have some fun! Join us for an interactive community workshop in the NAC public spaces led by Kathy Armstrong.
2:15 to 2:45 p.m. | Meet and greet with Rita Celli and Ed Lawrence
We are very excited to host a special meet and greet with Ontario Today host Rita Celli and go-to gardening expert Ed Lawrence. Join us for a chat on the Thornsteinson Glass Staircase. Have a question for Ed? Now is your chance to ask him in person. Plus, we’ll have some special gardening giveaways only available on location. Don’t miss it!
3-6 p.m. | All In A Day
All In A Day with host Alan Neal will take the stage in Peter A. Herrndorf Place in the afternoon. Swing by after work to watch the live show and enjoy musical performances from Skydiggers, Luke Lalonde and Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah Slean accompanied by Ottawa’s own Ironwood Quartet, plus great conversation and a few surprises.
6-7 p.m. | CBC Ottawa News at 6
Rounding up the highlights of the day, Lucy van Oldenbarneveld and Adrian Harewood will have fundraising updates, interviews and stories as part of a special CBC Ottawa News at 6.
