The Ottawa Food Bank is looking for an individual to fill a full-time position as Intake Worker.
The Intake Worker will be responsible for direct client service for the Ottawa Food Bank’s home delivery program, as well as walk-in clients seeking food. This role works as a liaison and advocate for clients, and in partnership with the Ottawa Food Bank warehouse, volunteer home delivery drivers, and other external community resources. This role will offer home delivery and walk-in services, registering and scheduling clients for delivery, tracking orders, making referrals and connecting back to community food banks, conducting wellness checks, and resolving any client issues arising.
As this is a direct client support role, it will require a trauma-informed therapeutic skill set in order to navigate the unique needs of the clients, make appropriate referrals, and provide wellness checks. As this program serves individuals and families who are isolated, you may be the only external point of contact for a client. You will be substituting for the role of the community food bank teams in offering comfort and support.
